We offer computerized polygraph instruments combined with prompt written reports. The report turn around time is normally 48 hours by fax or email.
Polygraphs may be conducted for Civil and Criminal testing of witnesses, suspects, defendants, and victims.
RESOLUTION____________
A
significant percentage of issues are resolved in the pre-test
interview. All polygraphs are video or audio recorded for security and
integrity purposes.
CIVIL TESTING___________
Civil
polygraph examinations normally involve personal or business issues.
Examples are employee theft, sexual harassment, fidelity issues, or some other
issue that has questioned the truth and veracity of the individuals
involved.
CRIMINAL TESTING_______
Criminal
polygraph testing is usually where the subject is either accused of or
has already been convicted of a crime. There can be both a defense
and/or procecutorial polygraph examination. Both the pretest interviews
and examinations are very much the same.
POST CONVICTION SEX OFFENDER TESTING (PCSOT)
Post-Conviction
Sex Offender Testing Is an advanced testing program developed in
response for higher standards of polygraph testing for sexual
offenders.
The
Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) requires that
polygraph examiners who conduct therapeutic, disclosure, and
maintenance testing of convicted sex offenders undergo advanced
polygraph training. This is typically 40 hours of classroom instruction
coupled with chart evaluation and question formulation training.
The
American Polygraph Association maintains a database of its members who
have successfully completed the training and demonstrated skill
competence by passing a standardized written test. The APA has also
formed a subcommittee for the oversight and approval of PCSOT training
and testing.
At Magic Valley Polygraphs (MVP), we work with a "Containment Model" combining Treatment Providers, Probation and Parole Officers, and the Polygraph Examiner
to provide A.P.A. Certified Testing that allows the greatest measure
of community safety through sexual history, disclosure, maintenance,
and monitoring polygraphs while still maintains the best possible treatment standards for the offender.
Law Enforcement Pre-employment and Professional Standards
In
1988, congress passed the Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA).
the act restricts the use of a polygraph test for pre-employment
purposes to a very limited group of jobs.
Only
government agency employees and a few other job classifications, such
as armored car company employees, are exempt from the Employee
Polygraph Protection Act and may require pre-employment polygraphs
prior to a job offer. Most of these agencies also require polygraph
testing for internal affairs or investigative purposes.
